Authentication technologies

Authentication providers enable Axidian Access to work with user authentication technologies.

An authentication provider gives the system a unified interface for performing operations with a specific authentication technology: obtaining authentication data from the user for storage, and verifying the data.

Install and configure authentication providers

Axidian Access supports the following authentication technologies:

  • Cryptographic smart cards and USB tokens, such as Rutoken, eToken, JaCarta, and others.
  • RFID contactless cards (used as passes in access control systems) of the EM-Marin, HID iClass, HID Proximity, and Mifare formats.
  • Hardware and software tokens generating one-time passwords over the OATH, TOTP, and HOTP protocols.
  • One-time codes sent by SMS or email.
  • Authentication with the mobile application and push notifications based on the Axidian Key application.

The Axidian Key mobile application is available for the iOS and Android operating systems. Using Axidian Key, the user confirms the login operation in the application on their smartphone. The operation details are displayed on the smartphone screen, where the user can make sure which system exactly is being logged in to. In addition, Axidian Key supports the generation of one-time passwords over the TOTP protocol.

Different technologies can be combined into one authentication method, thus implementing multifactor authentication (MFA).
