Group policy administrative templates (ADMX)

Some Axidian Access settings are specified with Microsoft group policies.

Note

Before configuring group policies, add the Axidian Access policy templates to the list of administrative templates. The policy template files are included in the Axidian Access distribution and are located in the Misc\ADMX Templates directory.

The effect of a policy is adding certain keys to the registry; if required, the policy values can be added to the registry manually. When adding them manually, create the missing registry sections.

Add administrative templates​

  1. Copy the group policy template files from the C:\Axidian\Axidian Access <version number>\Misc\ADMX Templates distribution directory to one of the following directories:

    • C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions — the local storage of ADMX files.
    • C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\DOMAIN_NAME\Policies\PolicyDefinitions — the storage of ADMX files on the domain controller.

    If the PolicyDefinitions directory does not exist, create it.

  2. Copy the AxidianID.BaseFile.admx file and all the required ADMX files to the \PolicyDefinitions directory.

  3. Copy the AxidianID.BaseFile.adml file and all the ADML files corresponding to the copied ADMX files from the \Axidian Access <version number>\Misc\ADMX Templates\<en-US or ru-RU> directory to the \PolicyDefinitions\en-US directory (for the English server localization) or \PolicyDefinitions\ru-RU (for the Russian server localization).

  4. Copy the templates from the ADMX Templates\BSPs folder to the root PolicyDefinitions folder, next to the other ADMX files.

  5. Add the policy templates and the authentication provider templates to the Computer Configuration section. Add the Axidian Access Paste policy templates to the User Configuration section.

After they are loaded, the Axidian Access group policies become available in Group Policy Management Editor, in the ADMX files section.

Configure with Local Group Policy Editor​

When configuring policies, you can use the gpedit.msc group policy editor console to manage the parameters in the registry.

Configure with Registry Editor​

To configure policies manually, open Registry Editor:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter regedit, then select Registry Editor.
  2. Go to the required section depending on the provider you are configuring, or create this section. For example, Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Axidian-ID.
Important

Be careful when using Registry Editor. If you edit the registry incorrectly, serious problems may occur that require a complete reinstallation of the operating system or lead to data loss.
